Love Padlocks Make Their Way to Twin Falls

Twin Falls, Idaho ( KMVT-TV / KSVT-TV )

You may have passed an overlook on the Canyon Rim trail and wondered why a cluster of padlocks is forming on a fence.

On our Facebook page, residents expressed their confusion.

It appears a worldwide trend has made its way to Twin Falls.

Love locks are prominent in France, Italy, and England to name a few places.

Twin Falls resident Verna Kagle explained, "being worldwide I think it’s great. The Snake River is so symbolic of the world."

Typically the romantic pair will inscribe their initials on the lock and then throw away the key, symbolizing a love that is unbreakable.

Kagel continued, "I haven't actually noticed them but I've heard stories of them and I'm excited to actually see it today. I'm really impressed with the story and I think it's really romantic."

Others like Bob and Bobbi Husome think there are other ways to keep their marriage going.

Bobbi noted they couple had been together "50 Years and we didn't even put a lock on the fence!"

But the couple believes the locks may serve as a way to let the younger generation have faith in love.

"If it makes them happy, why not.”

Hoping for some magic in the Magic Valley.
