Twin Falls, Idaho ( KMVT-TV / KSVT-TV ) When you think of some of the best movies ever made, often you remember the film's music.
Footloose, Ghost, The Wizard of Oz… songs from these classics will be featured in Friday’s concert at the College of Southern Idaho.
The CSI Madrigal Ensemble is presenting Mad About the Movies!
These are the women of the CSI Madrigal Ensemble and their director, Serena Clark.
With five parts, Clark is stepping into one of the roles, in Bonnie Tyler's "Holding Out for a Hero."
"This particular concert series began four years ago and kind of by accident. We always have a name for our concert, and the name for that particular concert was Mad about Disney and the entire concert was a Disney theme. But with acapella music, it was such a hit and so popular with the audience, I decided to make it sort of a trademark, and it would be our main concert this year," Clark explains.
Mad about the Movies features songs from classic American films, such as Casablanca, Breakfast at Tiffany's and Footloose.
"There's kind of something for everyone because we have old films and not as old films," Clark points out.
The sing-off and pitch perfect have helped to renew the interest in acapella music, according to Clark.
"It's a nice thing to see in the community, there's that support and interest. It's always a nice thing for the students,” she says.
Mad about Movies is coming up on Friday, May 9th at 7:30, at the Fine Arts Theater.
Donations are accepted at the door and made out to the music department.
