Twin Falls, Idaho ( KMVT-TV / KSVT-TV ) When it's time to go back to school shopping, money can sometimes be tight.

That's why the morning show of HOT 100 FM put together a contest to give away a $1,000 shopping spree to one lucky person.

"School supplies and clothes are so expensive and there's not as much money going around, because people are paying for gas and homes are more expensive, everything's more expensive, so we get a chance to make sure people really get all they need for back to school," said James Rabe of Hot 100 FM.

Listeners of the station's morning show have been eagerly waiting for this day.

"For about four weeks we have been getting qualifiers to win a thousand dollar back to school shopping spree and we just found out that we have a $500 shopping spree to add on to that, so if someone didn't get qualified and win the thousand dollar one, then a $500 shopping spree in given away here today at the Magic Valley Mall,” said Rabe.

The winner of the thousand dollar shopping spree is Gooding High School student, Alex Hernandez.

"Speechless right now, I'm pretty excited that I'm taking the weight off my mom's shoulders that she can spend more money on my sisters now,” said Hernandez.

"The winner, you get in a golf cart, you have a personal shopper and you're zooming around the mall in thirty minutes, who doesn't want that”, said Rabe.

The first stop for Alex is the Buckle where he bought some of the clothes he has always wanted. Next, he hit up Finish Line for some new shoes.

"What I love is that we get to do something really fun that's really going to help someone in the community, because like I said it's tough to afford some of the things your kids need”, said Rabe.

A well needed shopper’s delight for one deserving young man.
