By Andrew Reed

Twin Falls, Idaho (KMVT-TV) It is officially winter in the Magic Valley; locals are experiencing the first big snowfall of the season.

The snow fell throughout the day on Wednesday, leaving roads slick for drivers.

But, people in the magic valley didn't mind the fresh white powered.

"I'm defiantly excited we live in California right now so defiantly wanted to see snow while we were here” said Scott Hyatt, visiting from California.

"I think it's wonderful, it's time we need the moisture, it's good for the skiers, and it's good for everybody” said Rob King, enjoying the snow.

The Idaho State Police, along with area police departments, are cautioning drivers, telling them to slow down and take their time.

"Slowdown be patient, increase that distance so you have room to stop” said Corporal Aaron Bingham, Idaho State Police.

Meteorologist report Southern Idaho hasn't seen more than an inch of snow since March 2011."

"I would say this is the first significant snow event here in Twin Falls and the valley locations” Meteorologist Nick Kosir.

Snowflakes that locals would like to see stick around throughout the winter months.
