Magic Valley Weight Loss Challenge Comes To An End In 2012
Twin Falls, Idaho (KMVT-TV) Officials believe this year's contestants lost between 2,500 and 3,000 pounds respectively.
230 contestants signed up in January and Saturday 40 remained. Those 40 lost 1425 pounds. Six months of weigh–ins and hard work led to the big finale. The top ten contestants were only separated by seven percent as a group. "I did a lot of cardio, I cut back a lot of my calories, cut out pop, junk food, just focused on eating the right stuff," says Jaime Torrez, first-place winner with 104.5 pounds, 36.89% lost. "Starting back in January, I started working out in my living room about 4:15 before work and just started watching what I eat, fats, carbs, everything and just watched that over the last six months," adds Kate Harris, second-place winner with 99 pounds, 36.59% lost. Kurt Hefner of Kurt's Pharmacy says, "I want to encourage people not to stop, to continue to lose weight, continue to have those healthy eating lifestyles." The contestants also told us that having support at home helped them pull through. Comments ( Most Viewed
