Magic Valley Woman Facing Multiple Felonies for Check Fraud and Solicitation
Twin Falls, Idaho ( KMVT-TV / KSVT-TV ) A Magic Valley resident is facing multiple felonies after allegedly forging thousands of dollars worth of checks.
According to court records, 44 year-old Edith Ruiz forged the checks at multiple businesses throughout the Magic Valley, dating back to the end of last year.
She used blank check stock and a Versa Check System to make the forgeries.
Ruiz also allegedly forced another woman to cash some of the checks by riding with her to the businesses, and threatened to shoot her if she did not comply.
The two used fake identification cards and multiple aliases to cash the forged checks.
In the documents it states Ruiz used to work as a detention deputy for the Jerome County Sheriff's Office.
She is being charged with six counts of felony forgery and three counts of felony solicitation.
