Man And Son Injured In Snowmobile Accident In Blaine County
Bellevue, Idaho ( KMVT-TV / KTWT-TV ) - What is being described as a near head on collision of two snowmobiles South of Bellevue has left a man and his 12 year old son with serious injuries. The accident occurred shortly after 4pm in a hay field between Gannett Road and Bay Horse Road. Authorities say Nolan Kreczkowski , 12, suffered severe head and chest trauma after being thrown from the snowmobile he was riding.
The 12 year olds father, Keith Kreczkowski 47 of Bellevue had chest, head and neck trauma. All of this after the two collided in mid-air on their snowmobiles. The Blaine Sheriff’s office say the father was riding a Polaris 700 while his son was on a Polaris 400. Both riders were apparently unaware that the other person was taking the jump from the opposite direction.
The bottom of Keith’s snowmobile struck Nolan’s snowmobile in the hood/motor area and then continued to travel over the snowmobile into Nolan’s upper torso. Both victims were thrown from the machines and both lost their helmets in the collision.
One of the snowmobiles was traveling east and the other was traveling west. The 12 year old was transported by helicopter to Boise for treatment while the father was taken to St. Luke’s Wood River Medical Center. At last check the boy was stable but officials say his situation is serious.
Blaine County Sheriff Gene D. Ramsey said, “This is a very tragic accident and our hearts go out to the Kreczkowski family.”
