UPDATED: Red Cross Offering Help As South Hills Evacuated

UPDATED INFORMATION 10:00 AM FRIDAY 8/10/2012 Hansen, Idaho (KMVT-TV) As of 5:30 a.m., mandatory evacuations are in place for Rock Creek Canyon. The Cave Canyon Fire is currently 2 miles east of the Rock Creek Canyon Road. Foothills and Rock Creek Canyon Roads are closed until further notice. The American Red Cross is helping families who have been displaced by the Cave Canyon fire. Officials ordered a mandatory evacuation for residents on rock creek canyon road this morning. If you've been evacuated, you can head to 253 fourth avenue north. That's directly across from the DMV in Twin Falls County. Red Cross officials say case workers are standing by to help. They're offering debit cards to families who need to buy food, clothing and other necessities. The Red Cross is arranging for families who have been displaced to stay in hotels.If evacuees need to shelter horses, they may call Cody at 208-969-0979.

Hansen, Idaho (KMVT-TV) A mandatory evacuation order has been issued for all residents south of Hansen.

The Cave Canyon Fire is the largest in the Minidoka Complex.

The blaze is burning south of the Oakley-Murtaugh area.

Last night, campers and some residents in the South Hills were evacuated due to the growth of the Cave Canyon Fire.

At this point, all residents are being asked to evacuate their homes.

Officials with the Twin Falls County Disaster Unit have set up a temporary command post at the Rock Creek General Store to help facilitate all of the evacuees.
