Mckinstry, Blaine School District Settle Lawsuit

By Jay Michaels

Hailey, Idaho ( KMVT-TV / KTWT-TV ) The Blaine County School District and Mckinstry have settled their legal dispute amicably.

The disagreement was over energy retrofit work done on eight school district buildings. Mckinstry filed a lawsuit against the Blaine School District a year and a half ago.

As part of the settlement, the school district agreed to pay $665,612 for work completed. Mckinstry will pay the district $800,000 for attorney's fees, so the district doesn’t have to use levy funds to pay those legal costs.

All claims and counterclaims in the case will be dismissed. The two parties have entered into a 25 year agreement to ensure $9.5 million in energy savings during that period of time.
