Twin Falls, Idaho (KMVT-TV) The Idaho Department of Health and Welfare reached out to the community today.

Awareness of mental illness was the discussion at the Herrett Center.

Judge Richard Bevan from the Fifth Judicial District spoke about mental awareness recovery and the strengths individuals can have when having a mental illness.

"We really feel people should be known for their strengths and talents their capabilities. A lot of people are known for deficits, so we are trying to bring awareness of the strengths and capabilities that our population and clients have” said Eric Call, Children’s Mental Health.

An art exhibit was on display for the public that included ceramics, paintings, and photography by individuals within the community who have been diagnosed with a mental illness.
