Merchants' Profits

Filer, Idaho – (KMVT-TV / KSVT-TV) People come to the fair for the fun and games but you'll also find folks in the merchant buildings.

For five years now Joe Gilbert has been setting up shop in one of the three merchant buildings, selling cell phone accessories.

The ten by ten booth that he has rented out will set him back three hundred dollars.

But, its money well spent from the profits he's seen thus far.

"This year i'm up about twenty–five percent.
A lot of foot traffic this year, seems like a lot more people are coming out just to get out and about this year," said Joe Gilbert.

For some merchants the return of investment comes after the fair is done.

This is the second year local businessman Robert Newey has rented out a space.

Last year he saw a sharp increase of clientele walking into his office after the fair.

"My number of appointments tripled in the next three weeks and tapered off. Production, I went up and increased about thirty percent over what I would of that time a year before, " Newey said.

With 150 merchants participating in this year's fair, Gilbert is happy fair goers are buying items from his booth.

"I'm really happy about all the customers coming every year to my booth and buying, you know, inexpensive cell phone accessories," Gilbert said.
