By Jay Michaels

Gooding, Idaho ( KMVT-TV / KTWT-TV ) The cost of sending your kids to college just keeps going up. That's why local financial institutions like Zions Bank encourage kids to start saving money early.

A Gooding teacher explains 7th and 8th graders need to plan ahead. That includes building their resumes so they can qualify for college scholarships.

Gooding Middle School teacher Janet Dotson says, "If they start now, they have the coursework that they need, plus they're given opportunities to accelerate their learning and to work beyond just the regular school campus boundaries."

Dotson points out if students are smart with their money, they can earn interest to make it grow effectively. She indicates planning ahead can help students prevent stress and panic their senior year.
