Burley, Idaho ( KMVT-TV / KTWT-TV ) The Mini-Cassia Relay for Life fundraiser is only four months away and organizers are busy nailing down the details.

Residents in the mini-cassia area kicked off the American Cancer Society fundraiser.

"I got involved because of the death of my 7-year-old daughter; she died in 1992 from a tumor. Then later my other daughter was diagnosed with cancer. We have a lot of cancer in our family and we want to get rid of cancer, and this is our way to do it,” said Tracy Haskin, volunteer.

Tracy Haskin and her husband mike have been involved with Relay for Life for more than 17-years.

They’re bringing the community together to help those who are going through the cancer journey.

"Relay for life is a community event to raise funds, it's a fundraiser. We raise funds for the American Cancer Society and the money goes to research and to programs for cancer patients,” said Haskin.

The Mini-Cassia Relay for Life is going onto it's15th year, the groups goal is to raise more than one-hundred and fifty thousand dollars.

"We have on average between 25 and 30 teams, usually average about 8 to 10 per team. We get between three to four-hundred people, plus survivors” said Mike Haskin, volunteer.
