Mini-Cassia Turkey Trot draws 700

PAUL, Idaho (KMVT-TV) The Mini–Cassia Turkey Trot kicked off on a high note.

700 participants of all ages took part in the sixth annual race benefitting West End Fire and Rescue.

Officials say the trot is about strong bodies, strong families and a strong community.

11-year old Rupert resident Timothy Miller says, "I just wanted to come and run for the exercise and stuff."

Heyburn resident Tamara Richards says, "I just came to run...I'm sure I'll be able to run the whole 5 miles because I've done a lot in the past, but we'll see. It's been a year or so."

Adam and Kimberly Pierson referring to their costumes,"they're homemade. My wife made them for Halloween and we thought it would be perfect to run at an Idaho thing."

Organizers awarded prizes to the top three finishers as well as other categories, including the costume contest.
