Mock Emergency Drill: Your help Is Needed

By Joey Martin

Twin Falls, Idaho ( KMVT-TV / KTWT-TV ) The South Central Public Health District is looking for your help in a upcoming mock emergency response drill.

The mock drill will take place May 1st, inside Canyon Ridge High School.

South Central Health along with the 6 other Health Districts across Idaho will be participating in the drill.

The purpose of the state–wide exercise is to determine how efficient the health districts are in dispensing medications.

The scenario will center on an outbreak of the anthrax virus.

Volunteers will fill out a simple medical information form and then will receive a "mock" bottle of medication.

“If there were ever anything that happened, where it was a communicable disease or whatever, where the public was going to need to receive medication… were it, we’re the ones that would need to do that. So we are practicing that.” Said South Central Public Health Preparedness Program Manager, Tami Pearson.

If you want to be involved in the mock emergency drill all you need to do is show up.

The drill will take place Wednesday, May 1st from 2 to 4 in the afternoon.

It will take place inside the commons area at Canyon Ridge High School.

Those who participate in the exercise will receive free yogurt from Chobani and a coupon for a free sandwich from Chick–fil–A.
