More Cameras Coming To Twin Falls County Jail
Twin Falls, Idaho (KMVT-TV) The Twin Falls County Jail is receiving more video equipment. Captain Doug Hughes presented some vital information on Friday morning before the Twin Falls County Commissioners.
The commissioners approved the ECS contract under Sole Source Procurement. Hughes says he's adding 30 more cameras to the jail, in addition to the 68 cameras that are already there. He wants to approve the ability to monitor those areas for safety of the deputies, inmates and the overall facility. This will come in handy in case of complaints or potential incidents. "We feel that we have to be able to at least have electronic surveillance in there and be able to record those situations so that if we get a complaint down the road, 30, 60, 90 days, we have the ability to go back at that particular date and see how things transpired" adds Hughes. Hughes says it was easier for the county to fund the project instead of waiting until January to start the grant application process. Cameras will not be installed in areas where privacy rights could be violated. Comments ( |
