More people are canning, learn some tips from experts
TWIN FALLS, IDAHO KMVT-TV) More and more people are canning foods.
That's according to University of Idaho Extension Educator,Rhea Lanting. She says there's an increasing number of people growing their own gardens. So over at the kitchen and pantry building, fairgoers watched as officials made Kiwi Jam. They were also available to provide helpful tips. Rhea Lanting from the University of Idaho Extension says "You also have to remember in Twin Falls we have an altitude of 3700 feet above sea leval and so sometimes when we're' pressure canning' we have to add minutes when we're water bath canning." Here are some other tips for canning. Lanting says to use a USDA approved recipe. And it may sound simple, but always follow directions. If you have questions, call Rhea at 208-734-9590 Comments ( |
