Moving Their Feet Before They Eat

Twin Falls, Idaho (KMVT-TV) With Thursday being Thanksgiving, most businesses around Twin Falls closed their doors to celebrate the holiday… But not the Twin Falls YMCA.

On Thanksgiving morning the Elizabeth Street "Y" opened their doors for those looking to get in a good workout before taking on that turkey dinner.

From around 9 to noon the "Y" made their pool, tennis center and fitness gym available for some pre thanksgiving dinner workouts.

Non "Y" members were also invited to come in and workout for the low price of only a dollar on top of a donation of 2 cans of food.

Also a 5k Turkey Trot was held beginning at around 10.

For $20 a person, or $50 for an entire family, runners were able to take part in special workout run that took them from the YMCA, down Elizabeth to Hankins Road, and back to the “Y”.

“It’s just a great opportunity to give our community a fitness option before thanksgiving meals. So we wanted to have an option for people to come and burn some calories and what we like to say ‘move their feet before they eat’.” Said YMCA Fitness Director Eric Snow.

The YMCA also has a few events planned for Black Friday.

The City Pool will be opening their doors from noon to 4 and again from 6 to 9.

There will be an “Iceberg Invasion” at the pool from 4 to 6.

Followed by a midnight splash from 9 to 11.

The Canyon Rim YMCA will also be holding a special Spectra Spin class which is free for all "Y" members and only $10 for non members.

That class will be held from 6 to 8 on Friday evening.
