UPDATE: Owinza Fire Now At 33,894 Acres
UPDATE: Twin Falls District BLM, Idaho (KMVT-TV) The Owinza Fire is now at 32,894 acres. It's 5% contained as of 10:40 p.m. on Sunday. The fire is set to be at fully contained by 7 p.m. Monday night, and be fully controlled by Tuesday evening at 7 p.m.
Besides BLM West End, Shoshone, Dietrich and Richfield are helping and they also set up a base camp near the fire. ORIGINAL STORY: Twin Falls District BLM, Idaho (KMVT-TV) Lightning is to blame for multiple fires in the Magic Valley. The Owinza Fire was reported around 5:00 p.m. Currently it's around 300 acres near Star Lake, north of Hazelton. Officials have not set up a containment time. The Rattle Snake Butte Fire, also started by lightning was reported around 11 a.m. Officials estimate the size of the fire to be about 1000 acres. The location is approximately 15 miles east of Minidoka. There are two other smaller fires in the area that are less than 10 acres, one is north of Jackpot and the other is near Hollister.
