New Book Of Local Ghost Stories Released For Halloween

By Jay Michaels

Shoshone, Idaho (KMVT-TV) If you like ghost stories, a brand new book is bound to be right up your alley. And with Halloween on the way, “Hauntings from the Snake River Plain” could cause plenty of shivers.

It's an attention-getting title with ghost stories by 27 local authors. It features poetry and essays along with stories that are both true and made up.

Shoshone author Karma Metzler Fitzgerald says, "I did a non-fiction piece. Some of the articles in the book are fictional. But I opted to go with non-fiction because the story is so much better in real life. And it's about one room in the Soloaga Basque Boarding House in downtown Shoshone that is apparently haunted. And I'll tell you, it's a little creepy just to walk in there."

Shoshone resident Jann Thomsen says, "The nuns came to me the night that we first stayed there, and told me everything was safe, that I was welcome there, that my family was welcome there, and not to worry. That's the only time I've seen the nuns."

The Other Bunch Press are three local writers: Bonnie Dodge, Dixie Thomas Reale, and Patricia Santos Marcantonio.
They held a book signing for “Hauntings from the Snake River Plain” at 2nd Time Around Antique Mall in Shoshone.
Most of the ghost tales are set here in Idaho, where all of the writers are from.

There's also a story in this book about a guy's Aunt Eddie who doesn't exist at all.

Bonnie Dodge of the Other Bunch Press says, "If they want a copy of the book, they're got them at Hastings in Twin Falls, we have them at Moose Hill in Twin Falls. They're out at the Buzz Langdon Visitor Center with the Chamber of Commerce. They're on Amazon, they're on Barnes and Noble. They can contact us if they're local."

You can visit , or you can call Dodge at 324-8306.

Don't miss another book party from 7:00 to 9:00 p.m. this Saturday night at the Twin Falls Center for the Arts, 195 River Vista Place.
