New Commercial Subdivision Planned For Rupert

Rupert, Idaho (KMVT-TV) - Just this last week the Minidoka County Commissioners approved a request of an overall plan for a proposed commercial subdivision along Highway 30.

The new subdivision will be located at the intersection on 300 South and Highway 30 between Heyburn and Rupert.

The commercial lots, which will be called the Emery Business Park Subdivision, will consist of 5 separate Plots that will be able to service an array of separate industries.

This Thursday we talked with a member of the Minidoka County Planning and Zoning Commission and asked what this means for the city of Rupert and the entire Mini–Cassia Area.

“I’ve always considered this the same economic community. What’s good for Burley, what’s good for Declo is good for Rupert. There’s a ready trained labor supply. We’ve got a bilingual work base. The unemployment isn’t supper high here but there are plenty of people willing and ready to go to work.”
Said David Coats from the Minidoka County Planning and Zoning Commission.

Work crews have already begun the initial steps of construction on the property.

And as of now, one business has even started to show interest in becoming part of the new Emery Business Park.
