Twin Falls, Idaho (KMVT-TV) Federal, state and local law enforcement agencies are sending a message nationwide.

And, the message was heard loud and clear in our community last week when four people were arrested on spice charges.

We can expect much more from this investigation in the coming days.

"We've had an investigation going for several months. It's a joint investigation with a number of different agencies," said Sheriff Tom Carter, Twin Falls County.

Sixteen agencies make up the organized crime and drug enforcement task force.

With the Drug Enforcement Agency at the helm, Operation Log Jam targeted every level of the synthetic drug industry last week in more than 80 cities.

"I think we sent a message out loud and clear. You know if there's anybody left in this area that hasn't figured out yet that we're not going to tolerate the use of this stuff and we're not going to aggressively go after them," said Sheriff Carter.

44–year old Allen Nagel, 38–year old Stephanie Nagel, 45–year old Gary Nagel, 26–year old Josh Cserepes all of Twin Falls were indicted on charges of conspiracy to distribute a controlled substance analogue, along with 32–year old Joshua Becker of Tigard, Oregon.

"The sheriff and I both want to convey this to the community, spice and haze is not a safe alternative to marijuana or other hard drugs it's a dangerous drug and it's an issue we have been dealing with on a regular basis," said Chief Brian Pike, Twin Falls Police Department.

As Pike explains, it was a community meeting here at the College of Southern Idaho last November that brought the issue to the forefront.

And now, after a months–long investigation, law enforcement is reaching out to the community for help.

"It's important that we work with the community, all agencies that are involved in our community. The goal is public safety and we want to make our community as safe as we can," said Chief Pike.

Details pertaining to the investigation and the execution of the 14 search warrants are being kept secret for now.

But, additional information could be released as early as this week.

However, you can expect the bulk of it to come out during the judicial process.

Sheriff Carter and Chief Pike say the city and the county will continue to work together on this and other issues in an effort to keep our community safe.
