New Digital Mammography Suite at St. Luke's Jerome
Jerome, Idaho ( KMVT-TV / KTWT-TV ) A ribbon cutting was held tonight for a digital mammography suite at St. Luke's Jerome.
The suite features a state–of–the art system. This will allow doctors to almost instantly receive digital mammograms. The images taken will also allow for more precise mammograms. The system is an upgrade from an outdated film system. Dr. Michael Dixon says this technology is proven to save lives. Dr. Dixon explains, "It has been proven in the research trials that digital mammograms actually offer detection benefit for women with a denser breast tissue. So there is a real clinical benefit."
