New Gooding Jail Closer to RealityWendell
Wendell (KMVT)- A new jail facility in Gooding is getting closer to reality. The Gooding sheriff says they hope to secure funding in a couple of weeks. After that zoning and paper will be done and hope are to get the ground broken by April or May. The proposed site is in south Wendell next to I-84. The facility is being funded by investors. The county would not own the jail, but lease and operate it. The sheriff says they expect it to save the county roughly $800,000 a year. The whole project could cost $10.5 million.
