New Home Construction Booming In Twin Falls
Twin Falls, Idaho ( KMVT-TV / KTWT-TV ) New home construction is booming in Twin Falls, the largest increase since 2008.
Single–family home starts increased nearly 177% during the first two months of the fiscal year. That's 36 new home starts compared to 13 in 2012.
In 2008, the City of Twin Falls reported 41 new home starts, about the same time the recession hit the city.
City Spokesman Josh Palmer adds, "and that was really before the recession hit because that was the latter part of 2007. We know that some of companies we've brought in have helped quite a bit with this, we have new people moving to Twin Falls, we also have people who may have obtained new employment and now they're finally able to get into their dream home."
The value of a new single–family home starts in October and November also grew more than 180% and commercial construction fared well, with more than one million dollars in new commercial construction in October and November.
