New Jets Wouldn't Negatively Affect Sun Valley Airport

Hailey, Idaho (KMVT-TV) The Federal Aviation Administration says SkyWest airlines is switching from turboprop airplanes to regional jets. The FAA says it would have "no significant impact" on the Wood River Valley.

SkyWest wants to begin using CRJ 700 jets at Friedman Memorial Airport in Hailey.

Mead and Hunt is a consulting firm dealing with aviation. They conducted a study which says switching to the jets would cut the number of flights in half, to only three a day. But the new planes would be able to carry an additional 200 passengers every year.

The report also says that CRJ 700 jets are faster and more dependable than the current turboprop planes. The new service could begin as early as next spring.
