Twin Falls, Idaho ( KMVT-TV / KTWT-TV ) More Americans support new gun control measures in the wake of last month's mass shooting at a Newtown, Connecticut elementary school.

A new the Gallup survey shows 38-percent of Americans are dissatisfied with current gun regulations, and want stricter laws put in place.

That’s a 13-point jump from one year ago, when 25-percent expressed that view.

We asked locals if they thought gun laws should be stricter.

"I believe they have enough laws on them, I think they should enforce the laws they have” said Rodger Baker, against gun control.

"I think guns are part of the American culture and I think it's going to be really hard to basically tell the Americans not to use their guns and not to have their guns” said Shawn Hughes, against gun control.

"I think we have enough laws on the book that we can no longer enforce, why do we keep making laws that we already have” said Sharon Dunn, against gun control.

The poll reports women were more likely to say they were in favor of gun control than men.
