Rupert, Idaho (KMVT-TV) A former Twin Falls High School graduate and now Officer for the Rupert Police Department is starting a new program designed to get a handle on theft in the Mini–Cassia Area.

Officer Matt Hawkins of the Rupert Police Department recently introduced the Loss Prevention Program which has been adopted in other Idaho cities such as Twin Falls, Pocatello and Boise.

The program is designed to get area businesses together on a monthly basis to share and discuss issues such as theft, shoplifting and check fraud.

For just a few months now the city of Rupert has been using this program but recently Officer Hawkins realized that with Rupert's close connection with cities such as Heyburn and Burley, it was time to expand the program to encompass the entire Mini–Cassia area.

“This area, you know is kind of a small area, so we share some of the same criminals. So it only makes sense for us to involve Cassia County. Basically it’s a way for law enforcement agencies to get together with the business owners and other local law enforcement agencies and share information. Let them know about current crime trends. Get them aware of what’s going on.”
Said Rupert Police Officer, Matt Hawkins.

If you are a business owner in the Mini–Cassia Area and you are interested in being a part of the Loss Prevention Program.

You can contact the Rupert Police Department at any time and they would be happy to facilitate your needs.
