Burley, Idaho ( KMVT-TV / KTWT-TV ) The Oregon Trail Recreation District in Burley is looking to build a brand new Recreation Center for the Cassia County area the City of Burley is on board.
Last Tuesday the city of Burley donated land to the Oregon Trail Recreation District so they can construct a 20,000 square foot recreation complex.
The new facility, which will be located at the corner of Parke Avenue and 17th Street, will sit on the current site of the old baseball field at Salmon Park.
The new center will feature two full size basketball courts, meeting rooms, concession stands and lots of room for future growth.
“What this would mean to the people of Burley, the people of Cassia County is huge. For one thing, it brings in more opportunities for their children. We won’t have to schedule with the schools as much as we had to in the past. We can manage it and control it ourselves and make the program go a lot better.” Said Oregon Trail Recreation District Director Clark Harman
The day to day operations will be 100 percent ran by the Oregon Trail Recreation District.
Construction on the center will begin as soon as the weather permits.
