O'Leary Middle School Holds Geography Bee

By Jay Michaels

Twin Falls, Idaho ( KMVT-TV / KTWT-TV ) Students at O'Leary Middle School tested their skills in a geography bee today.

The bee is the local version of the annual contest sponsored by National Geographic magazine. To prepare for the competition, students were quizzed in their history classes to narrow down a class winner. Then those children got to participate in today's bee.

Chad Fistolera, 8th Grade Social Studies Teacher, says, "We narrow it down to one winner through a series of questions. That one winner will be represented here at the school bee with about 35 other winners. And from there we have five preliminary rounds, two semi-final rounds, and then a final round where we determine the school winner."

The top three winners in today’s National Geographic bee at O’Leary were Kami Withers, Anneke Mulder, and Connor Campbell, who are all seventh graders this year.
