One person killed, several injured in multiple vehicle accidents that occurred throughout Eastern Magic Valley this morning
MAGIC VALLEY (KMVT-TV) A winter storm passing through the area today, has been blamed for several accidents in the Magic Valley. The Idaho State Police say that at approximately 8:10 a.m., they investigated a single vehicle fatality crash on Interstate 86, near milepost 11.5, east of Burley. A 1986 Toyota pickup, driven by Allyn Hobbs, 65 of Grace, was headed westbound on I86 when he lost control of his vehicle and went into the median. Hobbs' vehicle rolled several times. Hobbs was not wearing his seatbelt and was ejected from the vehicle. Hobbs was prounced deceased at the scene. Weather was a contributing factor in the crash.
Winter weather conditions in the area accounted for six additional crashes investigated by the Idaho State Police throughout the morning. A single vehicle crash on eastbound Interstate 84 at milepost 188 was reported at 5:21 a.m. and involved a 2000 Ford Explorer driven by Joel Osterman, age 29 of Hansen. Osterman was driving eastbound when he lost control of his vehicle and slid into the median causing it to roll over. Osterman was wearing his seat belt and was transported to St. Luke's Magic Valley Regional Medical Center with minor injuries. At 6:13 a.m., the ISP investigated a crash involving a commercial vehicle on eastbound Interstate 84 near milepost 199. A 2004 Sterling semi-tractor pulling a 53 foot trailer, driven by Joseph Galvan, age 25 of Twin Falls, lost control of his vehicle causing it to crash onto its side. Galvan was uninjured in the crash. Crews remained at the scene today to recover the truck and its contents. At 7:43 a.m., a single vehicle roll over on eastbound Interstate 84 at milepost 201 happened just east of Kasota Road. Rodolfo Vera-Corona, age 47 of Wendell, was driving a 2004 Ford F150, when he lost control of his vehicle causing it to roll onto its top. Vera-Corona and his two passengers were transported to Minidoka Memorial Hospital with minor injuries. At 7:59 a.m., the ISP investigated a crash at the intersection of 1400 East and 2700 North in Twin Falls County, south of Buhl. Caitlyn Choate, age 15 of Castleford, was driving westbound on 2700 North in her 1988 Suzuki Esteem, when she slid off the road and struck a roadway sign. Choate was uninjured in the crash. At 8:32, authorities investigated a single vehicle crash on westbound Interstate 84 at milepost 229, near the Cotterell Port of Entry. A 2002 Isuzu Rodeo, driven by Mandala Maitland, age 25 of Bremerton, WA, lost control of her vehicle causing it to go off the roadway and roll onto its top. Maitland and her infant child were uninjured in the crash. Police say that while investigating the fatal crash on I86, at approximately 8:39 a.m., a 2003 Chevrolet Tahoe, driven by Ashley Woolen, age 26 of Pocatello, lost control and crashed directly across the roadway from the fatal crash.
