Operation Facelift Winners Announced
Twin Falls, Idaho ( KMVT-TV / KSVT-TV ) - The 2014 Operation Facelift Winners have been made. The announcement comes after a two week long regional effort to spruce-up southern Idaho downtown communities.
In first place Gold award for the most improved city recognition goes to Rupert. The city of Heyburn received the Silver award and the Bronze award is the city of Gooding.
A total of 17 businesses, City locations are now cleaned up, painted and given a new look.
Randy Shroll, Idaho Department of Commerce and Stephanie Cook, Idaho National Lab (INL) judged the projects in each city.
"I’ve been pleased to visit so many great southern Idaho communities during Operation Facelift and judge wonderful projects that demonstrate their concern to improve the appearance of their local business’ and communities,” said Stephanie Cook, technology based economic development with INL. “Communities, businesses and volunteer groups come together every year to make this program successful. Their contributions to ‘facelifting’ their communities is just amazing. INL is proud to support this regional community program,” she said.
One project from all participating southern Idaho communities was selected as “Most Improved Business” and receives a $1,000 credit to run a television advertisement on local KMVT-TV in Twin Falls. The City of Rupert was selected as the winner this year.
Winning projects for each city were: Jerome- Cheverria’s Restaurant; Twin Falls- Elizabeth Street YMCA; Filer –Knutson building; and Kimberly-Main St. commercial district building.
