Twin Falls, Idaho (KMVT-TV) If you would like to own your own special piece of Downtown Twin Falls history, then over the next two weeks you will have your chance.

Last month the city of Twin Falls once and for all made a clear cut decision regarding the parking meters in Old Towne Twin Falls.

Doing away with the parking meters completely...

And in doing so making parking in the Downtown area free to everyone that utilizes this historic area.

Now the city of Twin Falls has a unique opportunity and is giving its citizens a chance to buy what some would say is a small part of Twin Falls history.

Currently the city has a stock pile of around 160 meters.

“Really what we’ve decided to do is give the public a chance to own their piece of history. So the parking meters will be going up for public auction at three different events in the next week or so. There are a variety of styles. Some are the old style with the little meter on them and some of them are a little newer with a digital display.” Said Twin Falls City Council member, Shawn Barigar.

Over the next two weeks you will have 3 opportunities to take part in these auctions.

First will be this Saturday at the Blue Lakes Rotary's Beer Fest at the Twin Falls City Park. That auction starts at 2 pm.

The second auction will be on Wednesday, August 22nd.

That one will take place during the Twin Falls Tonight concert series, at the downtown fountain. That begins at 8.

Then finally on Thursday, August 23rd, the final auction will take place at the Twin Falls Chamber of Commerce Business after hours event.

That auction will start at 6:15 at the corner of Falls Avenue East and Locust Street North.
