Emeryville, California ( KMVT-TV / KSVT-TV ) A brand new company is getting ready to move into the Magic Valley.

Clif Bar & Company is the leading maker of nutritious and organic food and drinks.

The company plans to build a new state–of–the–art bakery in Twin Falls.
In that facility, they'll make Clif Bars and Clif Kid Z Bars.

Great food and a great philosophy. As Clif Bar and Company's CEO Kevin Cleary explains, it's what the company was built on.

"Clif Bar and Company started in 1990 when our owner and founder, Gary Erickson, went on a really long bike ride. He was on a 175 mile bike ride and he brought along with him that day 6 of the only other energy bars on the market. He had eaten 5 of them throughout the day and was famished and looked at the 6th one and said there is no way that I can eat another bar. As he was riding down the hill, he had an epiphany. He said "I can make a better bar than this. One that is made from wholesome, nutritional ingredients that tastes great. And that started Clif Bar. Then, he worked with his mom in her kitchen for the next 6 months perfecting what is today the Clif Bar and launched the company in 1992 named after his dad Clifford, he named the company Clif."

Today, Clif Bar and Company continues to grow. Clif Bar introduced 20 new flavors in 2013 and is available in seven new countries.
According to Cleary, that has to do with their business model.

Cleary says, "one of the things that Gary and kit as guiders of the Clif vision – have determined is they want to run a different kind of a business. This is not the kind of company that runs on one bottom line. This is a company that runs of 5 bottom lines, which is sustaining our business, our brands, our people, our community and our planet."

One of their five bottom lines, sustaining their people.

"At the end of the day, people are who people are interacting with. They get all of the great work done here. They create our great food. They purchase all of the organic and sustainable ingredients that we buy. They work with our customers. People are what make this happen," adds Cleary.

Because of this, the company offers everything from an on–site gym to child care, along with a hybrid incentive program.

As Clif Bar gets ready to move into Twin Falls, they're keeping their values in mind.

Cleary says, "what we want to do is bring the right set of programs that met the needs for people that are in Twin Falls working as a part of that team. So, what exactly does that look like? We are working on right now. But, our idea is to bring that same energy that you feel here to the bakery."

That energy and enthusiasm will be coming to the Magic Valley when they open their doors in January of 2016.

The new bakery will be constructed on nearly 90 acres in the area of Champlin Road and Eldridge Avenue in Twin Falls.

The initial phase of the project will be an estimated $90 million investment. When fully operational, it will create 250 jobs in southern Idaho.
