Partial Solar Eclipse Coming Sunday

Twin Falls, Idaho (KMVT-TV) On Sunday, you'll be able to see a partial solar eclipse in southern Idaho.

Between roughly 6:15 and 8:30 Sunday evening, the moon will pass across the face of the sun.

The moon will cover 81 percent of the sun just before 7:30 p.m.

The Herrett Center is selling eclipse glasses that you can look directly into the sun with and not hurt your eyes.

Center Observatory Coordinator Chris Anderson says don't look through binoculars or a telescope while wearing them, because you could cause serious eye damage.

He also says be cautious about welder's glasses. It needs to be a number 14 or darker, if you're not sure, then don't risk it.

"Don't use it. If it's something like a 10, 11 or a 12, you could do terrible damage to your eyes," adds Centennial Observatory Coordinator Chris Anderson.

The eclipse glasses are two dollars for a pair of them. He says just put them on over your eyes or regular glasses.
