Police: BSU Lacrosse Coach Arrested for Child Enticement
BOISE, Idaho (KBOI) - Police say the co-head coach of the Boise State University lacrosse team has been arrested for child enticement over the Internet.
Meridian Police say Paul Rocchio, 50, of Boise, was arrested in Settlers Park in Meridian Friday morning.
Police say Rocchio went to the park believing he was meeting someone under the age of 16 for a sexual encounter, but was instead met by officers.
The Meridian Police Department says that they began investigating Rocchio a month ago when he started an online conversation with someone he believed to be a minor, but was actually an undercover police officer.
Police say Rocchio arranged to meet the person Friday morning at Settlers Park.
Rocchio is the co-head coach of the BSU lacrosse team and began working with the team in 2010, according to the club's website.
He was booked into the Ada County Jail Friday evening.
The maximum penalty for child enticement over the Internet is 15 years in prison.
Police say multiple agencies worked on the case, including the Ada County Sheriff's Office, the Internet Crimes Against Children Task Force, and Meridian Police.
