Preliminary Hearing for Stabbing Suspect Leads to District Court
Twin Falls, Idaho (KMVT-TV) A Twin Falls man accused of stabbing another to death will be going to district court arraignment.
21-year old Cayde Lish was in court today for his preliminary hearing.
After three hours of testimony.. Judge Roger Harris made the decision to move forward with the case.
Not many words were spoken by the defendant, Cayde Lish, as he listened to testimony from six witnesses about a night which changed his life forever.
"They were wrestling, they were just scooting back and forth,” said Kayla Webb, JD Piaz’s girlfriend.
Piaz died as a result of his his injuries.
The victim's girlfriend was the only witness on the early morning of October 6th.
She explained what she saw during the incident.
Webb says, "Cayde and JD were facing each other and then Cayde went to punch JD but JD had ducked."
Testimony continued with three officers from the Twin Falls Police Department and the county coroner.
Lish’s defense attorney, Keith Roark says,"Nobody feels good about the loss of human life. Cayde has been in jail since this occurred. His family has been without him, they're worried sick and they're also sympathetic to the parents of the deceased and the rest of his family.”
The lives of two families now altered forever.
"This was just a bad incident no question about that but whether or not there should be criminal charges...that's a fight for another day,” said Roark.
During testimony- the Twin Falls County Coroner explained there were 13 stab wounds on Piaz's back and one other found in his arm.
Cayde Lish will be going to District Court for his arraignment on December 17th.
