Burley, Idaho ( KMVT-TV / KTWT-TV ) The cold temperatures and snow are creating dangerous conditions across our area.
Main roads are staying relatively clear in the Twin Falls area.
But, if you venture out to the interstate or smaller towns, it's another story.
But, road conditions aren't the only worry.
Temperatures are getting colder, which means it gets harder to heat your house.
When heating units aren't enough for an entire household, some resort to unsafe practices... such as ovens.
This is one of the main causes of fires during the winter season
“Get approved heaters. You know, they have heaters now-a-days that if they tip over they automatically turn off. If that's what they have to do, I don't suggest that they use their oven cause that will overheat the oven, causing a fire that way,” explains Shannon Tolman, Burley Fire Chief.
A safer option to help heat your house is using a space heater, but always remember to keep them on for a limited amount of time.
