Twin Falls, Idaho ( KMVT-TV / KTWT-TV ) The price of stamps is set to skyrocket this weekend.
Currently stamps are 46-cents, but on Sunday, the cost will rise to 49-cents each.
That may not seem like a lot, but really it's a seven percent increase.
The hike includes a one-cent increase to keep pace with inflation.
The additional two cents, which is intended to be temporary...
Will recoup the losses the Postal Service suffered during the recession.
"It's been three years since we've done this. We've done everything we can to reduce our costs as far as internal handling of the mail, transportation and getting it delivered, so we had to finally ask for a raise," explains Margaret Putnam, USPS Consumer and Industry Contact.
If you want to avoid the price hike, you can stock up on forever stamps at 46-cents apiece.
