Propane Shortages Making For Cold Homeowners

By KMVT News

Jerome, Idaho ( KMVT-TV / KTWT-TV ) Propane shortages across the country are leaving many homeowners in the cold.

At Valley Country Store in Jerome, they're feeling the effects of this shortage as well.

The strain on propane supply was caused by a number of events.

Some of those include - according to the National Propane Gas Association - a 2013 rise in U.S. propane exports and increased agricultural demand during the crop drying season.

Tom Daniels with the Valley Country Store adds, "As the temperatures drop we do see an increase in demand absolutely, and that's what we've been experiencing. Through the mid-west as the temperature stays cold as long as they have we're going to see that. They've really pulled the supplies down,"

Across the country, governors are declaring states of emergency to ease transportation regulations and increase propane deliveries.
