Proposals To Jump Canyon Being Reviewed By Twin Falls City Council
Twin Falls, Idaho ( KMVT-TV / KTWT-TV ) - Proposals from those wanting to jump the Snake River Canyon next year are being reviewed by the City of Twin Falls. Josh Palmer with the City said a public forum is scheduled to begin on Thursday November 21 at 4pm. The meeting will be at the Canyon Ridge High School auditorium. Applicants will be given the opportunity to make a 15 minute presentation to the Twin Falls City Council. Applicants will also be asked questions after their presentation.
In September, Big Ed Beckley of Bridgeport, Texas submitted the winning bid to gain the rights from the Idaho department of lands to land on the north side. His bid was for $943,000.
Mike Williams, the Assistant to the City Manager in Twin Falls said right now the council needs more information. He said they need to know the person they award the permit to, can provide the necessary safety and the complete event will be carried out in an orderly manner. The event should not cost the city taxpayers anything. Right now, the city is being very cautious, Williams said.
September 2014 is the 40th Anniversary for the Evel Knievel’s Snake River Jump attempt.
