Public Works Department Needs Your Help

By Aimee Burnett

JEROME, Idaho (KMVT-TV) - The City of Jerome is asking for your help as we head into the winter season.

For the Public Works Department, winter means it's time to start preparing to plow the roads.

The cost of plowing the roads is about $300 per lane mile.

Last year the city spent over $50,000 plowing the roads.

There is one thing that you can do to make their job a little easier.

"More vehicles on the streets makes it tougher for snow plows to get through to actually clear the road ways," said Walt Appell, Jerome Public Works Director.

So, if snow is forecasted you may want to move your car into your driveway.

Just a reminder, the snow plows will only be dispatched if there is at least 6 inches on the roadways and is expected to stick for a couple of days.
