Rec Center Committee To Meet With Twin Falls City Council

By KMVT News

Twin Falls, Idaho (KMVT-TV) Sports fans have been talking about building a recreation center in Twin Falls for the last few years.

Next Monday night, the recreation center committee will make what could be their final recommendation to the Twin Falls City Council. Finding the money to keep the rec center up and running is the biggest hurdle. But then the question is who will manage the proposed facility.

Dennis Bowyer, Director of Twin Falls Parks and Recreation, says, "Their number one recommendation option on the funding is to formalize some kind of partnership with the Boys and Girls Club. We don't know what that partnership will look like on the funding part of the management of the recreation center, either."

Bowyer says the proposed rec center would be built on Maxwell Avenue just east of the existing Parks and Recreation office. The center will total about 50,000 square feet with four full size basketball courts. He says a full blown fitness center would also provide income to keep the rec center open.
