Rec Center Looking For Direction
TWIN FALLS, ID (KMVT-TV) - Monday night the Twin Falls City Council were in chambers and had a full agenda on their hands.
First off, the Twin Falls Recreation Committee came to the council looking for direction on what should be done next to help build a Rec Center for the city of Twin Falls. Basically the committee was looking for direction on what size of complex the city wants. A 50,000 square foot facility or 100,000 square foot facility… After about an hour of discussion the council came back to the committee with 4 main points of direction. First, the council liked the idea of a smaller, 50,000 square foot facility, much like the Rec Center in Jerome. Second, was to come up with a 5 year operation and maintenance outline that the council then could review. Third, to try and seek out needed assets that won't compete with existing organizations like the YMCA or the Boys and Girls Club. And lastly, to explore multiple funding sources. Now with direction from the city, the committee can start to create a much more detailed look at what the center would look like and how much it would cost to run the center. Comments ( |
