Repairs Begin On Shoshone Falls Boat Ramp
Twin Falls, Idaho (KMVT-TV) With all the road work happening at this time of year, a local boat ramp could also use some tender loving care.
Workers will begin repairing the Shoshone Falls boat ramp just upstream from Shoshone Falls tomorrow. The concrete has begun crumbling, leaving a "dip" on the east side of the ramp. The ramp will be closed for two days while the repairs are taking place. Dennis Bowyer, Director of Twin Falls Parks and Recreation, says, "I'm thinking it's just probably with the ebb and flow of the water, when it raises and lowers, it just started eroding away underneath. But it stayed like this for about 10 years before any problems, it lasted a long time. So they may have to look at, maybe down the road, replacing this completely again." Bowyer says water levels are low enough right now to pour concrete at the dock's location. Twin Falls County owns the dock because it's on a waterway, but the City of Twin Falls manages the area because it's part of the city owned park. The project should be finished by sometime Wednesday.
