Residents Encouraged To Do Some Spring Cleaning On Mailboxes

By KMVT News

Twin Falls, Idaho ( KMVT-TV / KSVT-TV ) The Twin Falls Postmaster is encouraging folks to inspect and repair their mailboxes.

The annual request comes as a result of the wear and tear that happens during the harsh winter months.

One of the larger problems is wasps and bees.

Mail carrier Alyssa Soloaga has been stung in the past and emphasizes what people need to be aware of.

"It's mostly the bees, and if your mailbox gets hit down or knocked down, you want to try to get a mailbox as soon as you can so we don't have to hold your mail and it's not a big hassle for everybody," she explains.

Other tips include making sure your mailbox is properly anchored.

The Postal Service requires USPS approved curbside mailboxes.

Before putting up a custom-built mailbox, contact your local post office.
