Robots Rumble For Educators

Tools

By Jay Michaels

Twin Falls, Idaho ( KMVT-TV / KTWT-TV ) Students from Burley High School are showing off their robots to superintendents from all over Southern Idaho. The program is through the Cassia Regional Professional Technical Center in Burley.

These robots aren't toys, and each one can cost $1,000 or more. The students put the robots through their paces and impressed the educators in the audience.

Burley High School junior Aren Anderton says, "We'll be driving around the field, we'll pick up the buckyballs, we'll score them in the cylinder. We'll knock the big ones off the top bridge a little bit."

Anderton points out this demonstration is like the real competitions, in which students build a robot capable of beating other robots. In addition to racking up points, the robots can also subtract points from the other team's score.
