Rock Creek Descendents Meet For First Time In Kimberly

By Jeff Gomske

Kimberly, Idaho ( KMVT-TV / KTWT-TV ) Descendents of the original Rock Creek settlers gathered Saturday at Kimberly City Park for the very first time.

Author David Jensen compiled dozens of never-before-seen photographs and stories for his book.

The original pioneers came in the spring of 1865.

Between 35 and 40 of the original settler descendents came for Saturday’s event.

David credits these people specifically for making the book possible.

"I didn't do this book. I took their words, I took their stories and their photographs as a historian, compiled them into three-hundred sixty pages, it's their work, it's their writing, and they deserve all of the credit.”

Writing the book actually started about 7 years ago.

From collecting and restoring original photographs to the writing, it was all a labor of love.

Organizers are hoping to turn Saturday’s gathering into an annual event.
