Rupert, Idaho ( KMVT-TV / KTWT-TV ) Locals came together in Rupert Saturday as they're trying to bring awareness to an imprisoned Christian pastor in Iran.
Attempting to put pressure on the Iranian government is also a goal, along with bringing the pastor home.
About one year ago, Saeed Abedini went to Iran to finish building an orphanage and was taken prisoner. His wife has worked tirelessly to bring this to the attention of everyone in hopes of freeing her husband.
She has worked with many politicians and even spoke before the U.N. to enlist help.
Abedini has been held on weak charges and Iran has even broken their own laws to keep him captive.
Naghmeh Abedini, Saeed's wife explains, "Iran is violating its own laws and international laws by keeping him in prison illegally. He has not broken any Iranian law and Iran is the one breaking their own laws because they allow in their laws for Christian Conversion."
If you would like to help, they have an online petition they hope you'll sign, the site is save saeed.org.
So far, over six–hundred thousand people have signed it.
