BASE jumpers flock to the Perrine Bridge in the winter to take advantage of the only man–made structure in the nation that allows year round jumps.
But, experts warn there are more precautions needed in the winter months.

Says Joey California, Professional BASE jumper, "We need to think of how cold it gets in the night time so night jumps are fun but you need to know how to get out. Climbing up the cliff or in the dark making your way out so you need to make sure someone knows where you are."

Abbie Mashaal, owner of DZone Skydiving, adds, "bring warm weather gear. The best thing you can do is to contact the locals-- they have the best knowledge of jumping in the Winter.”

BASE jumpers in the community are coming together to keep each other safe, and may have already saved a life."

Says California, "(we) came up with the idea to have a tub of clothes in case someone lands in the water."

Mashaal adds, "Recently we did have a jumper visiting and learning how to BASE jump here in Twin Falls who did happen to go in the water."
Says California about the event, “some jumpers actually pulled him out of the water, stripped him down, put some clothes on him, started a small fire, and were able to save his life."

But don’t be discouraged about jumping in the winter.

Says Mashaal, "the key is staying out of the cold water. The wind is not really a big problem until springtime where there are gusty winds and that's a big issue. Winter time is a great time to BASE jump."

Staying safe and taking winter fun to a whole new level.
